Some Employers Must Submit Electronic Records By March 2
MAINTAINING RECORDS & POSTING REQUIREMENTS
Most employers with more than 10 employees, except those in exempt industries, are required to track workplace injuries and illness each year using the OSHA 300 form. From February through April each year, they must also conspicuously post a summary of workplace injuries and illnesses recorded the previous year on OSHA Form 300A. Minor injuries requiring first aid only do not need to be recorded.
This information helps employers, workers, and OSHA evaluate the safety of a workplace, understand industry hazards, and implement worker protections to reduce and eliminate hazards, preventing future workplace injuries and illnesses.
OSHA can cite and fine a covered employer who fails to complete and post OSHA Form 300A properly.
SOME EMPLOYERS MUST ALSO SUBMIT FORMS ELECTRONICALLY
In addition to the posting requirements, employers with 250 or more employees (except for those in exempt industries) AND employers with 20-249 employees in certain high-risk industries are required to submit their OSHA Form 300A to OSHA electronically. There is an Injury Tracking Application to make it easier to submit these records electronically.
The deadline to submit forms for the calendar year 2022 is March 2, 2023.
SEVERE INJURY REPORTING
Employers must report any worker fatality within 8 hours and any amputation, loss of an eye, or hospitalization of a worker within 24 hours.
