Senior Human Resource Consultant
Kathy has over twenty-five years of professional human resource management and consulting experience in the private, non-profit, and public sectors, and has worked across all industries in both small and large organizations. She has a strong background in employee relations, compliance programs and policy development, compensation design, delivery of employee training programs, and recruitment and retention of staff.
Prior to working for HR One, Kathy conducted research of human resource best practice solutions for Fortune 500 companies, and implemented time & attendance systems for a national payroll company. Most of her management experience had been with two major retailers in the Northeast region, one as District HR Manager, overseeing 2,000 employees in multiple store locations; the other as Manager of Employee Benefits and Records.
Working in both union and non-union environments, Kathy understands the importance and need for excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and has been awarded several HR commendations. She has extensive experience and expertise in providing effective corrective action and progressive discipline procedures, managing employee separations, and overseeing a variety of HR initiatives in companies seeking to improve the productivity and efficiency of their human capital.
Since joining HR One, Kathy has developed comprehensive employee handbooks, summary plan descriptions, and policy manuals. She has successfully performed skills assessment of corporate leadership, implemented training programs designed to build the skill sets of those leaders, conducted formal investigations on complaints filed by employees, responded to numerous Human Rights complaints on behalf of clients and ensured compliant HR practices for HR One clients.
The scope of her responsibility has included wage & salary administration, performance appraisal practices, recruitment, selection, and operations planning, and other state and federal employer compliance requirements. Kathy currently services a variety of industries targeting retail, manufacturing, health care, education, general business, and public and non-profit services.
Kathy received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, in Personnel and Labor Relations. Kathy holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certificate through the Human Resource Certification Institute, and a Senior Certified Professional (SCP) designation from the Society for Human Resource Management. She holds national and local memberships in a variety of organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management, the Capital Region Human Resource Association and the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
